I love this basement finish idea. Just like a finished basement, the finish serves many purposes. It can be a storage space for all your tools and things, a place for the kids to play, a place to put all the junk from the week, a storage space for your dog’s toys (for when the kids are gone), a place for your favorite books, a place for your wine rack, and much more.
For me, the finish isn’t really the finish if I’m not careful. Like many others, I have found that the finish of a basement can be very distracting and even a bit dangerous. I love the look of the finished basement, but there are a few places I wouldnt put my dog in it. The reason is because it is not a large area that you can easily walk your dog around. If your dog is not used to the large concrete steps and the stairs, you might get stuck.
To prevent this, youll want to keep your dog on a leash until the last steps are taken out. Also, the steps are not always smooth, so youll want to be a little careful when walking around it.
It’s good to keep your dog on a leash outside of the enclosed areas, but if you have a dog that loves going under the house, then you might want to consider putting it in a large backyard (or even outside) to let it run freely throughout the day. Of course, this also means you might get stuck getting ready for the dog to relieve himself.
The basement of our house is filled with pipes and vents that need to be pulled out. If not, then maybe we should just do it ourselves. But if we have a dog, then we need to keep it on a leash.
You don’t have to put your dog in a backyard. You can also consider putting it someplace out of the way where it can’t get in the way of any important activity, like the laundry room, the garage, or in the basement. In fact, this is the best time to leave a dog outside. It’s not that it won’t be able to get in your basement if you let it. It’s that you won’t be able to get it back in the house.
