This is only a small sampling of the many builders that I have worked with as an owner or seller in my home business. They all have such different approaches, from humble beginnings with just one or two people to multi-million dollar projects, and they are all so much more than just the builders.
For instance, some folks are just plain weird. I’ve seen a few of these, including one guy who just painted his bathroom blue, white, and red and just did nothing for months. That was awesome, but it wasn’t as cool as making his bathroom a truly unique work of art.
A lot of the time, the home builders are like the little brothers and sisters of the builders, they are just like people who have homes and don’t really do anything in them. The builders are just people who have homes and aren’t really in them, and some of them have built entire communities around themselves. The builders are also different because, for the most part, they are just regular people.
The builders are the same as the real-life people, but they tend to be more introverted, quiet, and reserved. They build houses and communities and do other things without much social interaction. Their homes are just a place to live and a home for them to be in. The builders may not be that great as builders, but they are still people with homes and their own lives, and they tend to be more self-aware.
It’s a nice change of pace from the typical real-life guy, and just a refreshing change of pace for those of us who are used to seeing and meeting lots of “regular guys” when we go to a real-life home-building convention.
Some tract home builders are self-aware, like the ones in this article. Many are in the “we’re here to help” business, so they don’t care about being self-aware. But for others it’s a hobby. I believe it’s a hobby, but there are definitely some who are self-aware as much as others who are not.
Its a fun hobby, but I’m a little biased because I’m the hobbyist part. I like to build tract homes, and I get a lot of satisfaction building them myself, however I don’t have a lot of self-awareness. I also have a lot of respect for real-life builders who don’t care so much about being self-aware.
Its a hobby, but I also have a lot of respect for people who choose to be self-aware and care about being self-aware. I think this is a hobby that’s worth a lot to the builders, and to the homeowners who enjoy it. As a hobby, though, I personally wouldn’t say it’s worth spending a lot of time on.
As a hobby, home building is just the latest form of construction to take up a lot of our time, so I understand that it won’t take much self-awareness to build a few of your own. It’s just another way to build up your “self-awareness” by building houses and condos. Which is why a lot of home builds are a little strange.
