The staff at McSmith Funeral Home in South Barre knew each other well and made a life long commitment to the well-being of the people they served. Today, they continue to make a real difference in the lives of those who visit their services.
It’s a well known fact that funerals can be a painful, anxiety-producing time. And in fact, the emotional stress associated with the funeral of a family member can often be worse than the actual death itself. That is why many funeral homes try to minimize the stress by offering a little comfort, or just by talking to the family, or by having some sort of private moment.
In the case of the folks at McS, they’re doing both. They’ve taken the stress of the funeral out of the equation by offering a private, private moment with the dead person at their funeral. And by having the funeral take place in the home they’ve also helped to make the whole experience a bit more comfortable. But the big win here is the fact that the people who are in the room with the dead person can also feel what the deceased felt in life.

So we’ve got the “funeral out of the equation” factor. But then it’s interesting to note that the person who is the recipient of the funeral offer is a member of a small minority of people who are in the room. In fact, the people who are in the room with the deceased are the very people who are offering the funeral. So in terms of privacy the funeral takes an important step forward.
As with all of mc smith, the funeral home is an important part of the plot in Deathloop. The funeral home, in the words of the voice of the dead, “has been in operation for more than two hundred thirty seven years.” It also seems to be a private home, where the guests are all on a personal basis. You can tell that the funeral director who is in the room with the dead person is a part of the family who is at the funeral.
In Deathloop, the funeral director is not really the head of the family. He is the head of the private funeral home, and he’s there to make sure that the guests are all taken care of. We’re told that the funeral director is a bit of a prick who hasn’t shown any empathy for the dead person. He’s also a bit of a tyrant who is determined to keep all the guests from getting what’s owed to them.
In Deathloop, the funeral director and his family are also the head of the private funeral home and are in charge of paying the bills, the cleaning, and of course the funeral. This is a bit different than in real life because we dont know who the people who are paying the bills are, and that is something we do know from previous Deathloop trailers.
For example, it’s implied that the funeral director was one of the Visionaries who were trying to kill Colt when he was a guest at the funeral home. Now as a regular viewer of these trailers, I’m not sure if this is just a simple coincidence or not. Either way, it makes me wonder if the family is actually the people who are paying the bills.
Its also not clear at this point exactly what happened to Colt Vahn and what sort of people he might have been with. It’s implied that he was murdered and then the people who are paying the bills took his body and disappeared. This of course doesn’t explain why the funeral director would be the one paying the bills. It also doesn’t explain the fact that the funeral director is now a man in a suit.
