I’ve lived in an international home, with people living and working in all 50 U.S. states and in more than 20 foreign countries. The biggest benefit is that I can be in my own “home” in a foreign country, but still travel to see other parts of the country. I love the fact that I have the freedom to travel internationally when it is convenient.
The only benefit I can really give is getting to work when I want and be in a foreign location, but that doesn’t help with that big “I hate home” factor. The only other advantage is that I don’t have to drive everywhere, which is nice and makes it easy to travel abroad.
The first time I learned you could drive in the US, my friend and I drove to the airport in an hour. We arrived in Mexico without a hitch, and were able to jump into the rental car with ease. The second time, we were on a plane to Spain without a hitch, and were able to drive to the same airport. The third time, we were in London by car.
You only need to drive to a specific place if you want to go there.
As long as you have a car, you can drive anywhere in the world.
There are no international borders in the US. This is a major issue for us because the border crossing point is located in New York City. In fact, the average time for international border crossings in the US is over six minutes. On top of that, you’re required to show your passport again if you want to change your mind and drive on to the next country.
It’s a fact that the US border is one of the most dangerous places in the world to cross. There are many incidents of things going wrong (from people not understanding where you’re trying to go, to people crossing without your permission, to people crossing when they haven’t seen you) and if you’re unlucky enough to be caught, there’s a very high chance you’ll be deported. In fact, in the last month, there have been over ten thousand deportations.
So, to drive on to the next country, you have to know where you are going. This is why you need to have a road map or GPS to get you started. But that’s not all. If you don’t have a GPS you can still drive. You can still drive in a car, you can still drive on highways, and there are many other ways to drive.
Like most things in life, the first place you should travel is your own country. The problem is that if you are from a country that does not allow your freedom of movement it is likely that you will be denied entry to another country if you do not have a valid passport. That means that you should also consider traveling to another country that does allow your freedom of movement. The countries that do are called “visa-free” countries.
Countries with visa-free entry to the U.S. have been known to have people from countries that are part of the European Union and/or the Schengen Area that have been allowed to travel to the U.S. without visas. If you are traveling to another country, you will be required to purchase a travel visa that you will need to apply for in advance of your trip.
