Lombard, Illinois is a small town located 35 miles north of Chicago. It is home to the Lombard High School, Lombard Bank, and Lombard Community College. The population of the town is about 9,000 people.
We’ve been doing a lot of remodeling recently, and this one is one of our oldest residential projects. We are building a new home on a small piece of land which was owned by a couple who wanted to sell it for lots of money. They had a hard time selling it because the house was built in the 1950s, so no one wanted to spend their money building a new home.
Today is the day of the home sale, and the seller is coming to the house to visit. He lives in the house with his wife and their two kids, who live with them. We are going to have a yard sale and I’m going to sell some things that I have. We have a lot of wood to do a lot of stuff. I have a set of tools that I use and I have a lot of items that I would like to sell.
The thing is, the home was built with the help of a lot of construction workers who weren’t paid in years. They had a hard time selling it because even though they were building homes in the 1950s, they weren’t allowed to sell the homes themselves. Some of their houses were built so the workers could afford to live in them. So they were making money in the building process but not at the end of the day. Because of this, most of them left town.
The home was a victim of the same problem that has made the movie Home wrecking careers. When the movie industry came about it was no longer a thing. But if you look at the number of homes that got demolished in the last few years, it has become more commonplace. While some people in the construction industry might have never heard of the term “home wrecking”, those who did are doing something to make a living doing this type of work.
