Vertical Blinds are one of the more expensive windows on your home. You have to buy them from a specific company, and they are usually the most expensive. That’s why it is imperative that you ask friends or family for their recommendations on the best blinds to choose. I was sent a few of my favorite blinds by a long-time friend, and she let me be the judge, and I decided on the one pictured above.
The blinds are a very thin membrane of plastic that are secured by two clamps that are bolted into the frame of the window. The clamps are adjustable, so you can select the intensity of the light entering the window for your blinds. Since they cost a fortune, I think you can easily justify the expense of buying them. They do add a nice, clean look to the outside of your home, and can be very effective.
The clamps allow for the blinds to be adjusted to the opening in the window. I’ve seen people’s blinds adjust to fit in the window, but I don’t know whether or not they’re properly adjustable. In the above picture, the first one that I saw is about half the size of the other clamps, but the other ones are about the same size. I think you can adjust them, but I’m not sure.
I had an accident a few years ago and I fell into one of the new vertical blinds as I was walking to the bathroom. It fell into the bathroom and hit my leg, breaking it. It wasnt until I got home, and was about to do something that I noticed the damage. I had just cleaned the clamps out when I discovered the damage.
I think I would have been more worried that I had damaged the clamps before I fell in, but what I really think I would have been worried about was that I would have broken my leg when I moved, and then the clamps would be attached to the back of my leg, and that would have been the end of it. I guess I would have taken the fall more seriously.
