My kitchen island is a great idea when you have a small space and you need more space for stuff. I love the look of a kitchen island, and this one is my pride and joy. It is a big island which is great for entertaining, but I wanted to make it a bit more functional. I went with an under cabinet, but I was able to just pull it out to make it a bit more flexible.
I did a lot of research before I picked this particular model. My budget was tight, but I wanted something that was functional and easy to clean. I also wanted a nice finish. I went with a grey granite top and a black granite back. As I mentioned in a previous post, the black granite is a bit harder, so I did some research to see if there might be a cheaper alternative.
I chose the grey granite because it has a smoother finish and because it has a bit of a finish to it. It also helps that the kitchen island is one of those things that is a double-edged sword because it’s both functional and aesthetic. On the one hand, it’s a functional piece of furniture that can be used in all kinds of ways. On the other hand, it’s a bit uncomfortable to sit on and it has a bit of a rough texture.
This is an area where I think home improvement stores have fallen short. Most of the kitchen islands are made from solid, non-porous materials. Of course, you can buy these materials at home depot, but it doesn’t help when the materials you choose are cheap and hard to work with. It may be cheaper to buy these materials in the store, but you have to put it into practice because it doesn’t make it any easier either.

However, I failed to do so because the color is actually the same color as the hardwood, which makes it impossible to paint on a solid color.
This issue is caused by the fact that the color of the hardwood is darker than the softwood, so you cant paint on the gray of the hardwood. If you want it to be the color of the hardwood, you need to sand it to make it the color of the soft wood.

If you want your kitchen island to be the same color as the floor you will need to sand the floor, stain it, and paint the island white. This is a little more challenging because it is probably going to be a different color from the floor, but I think it is doable if you know what you are doing.
