I love the idea of building a basement. The idea of having a space that would be your home base and where you can literally call the space you work in your own space. I love that it can be a space that you can work in, that you can grow from, and that you can have a sense of ownership about.
That is why I think it’s so important to renovate your home. It’s a place you can use as a base for your life. It’s a space you can be proud of. I know it’s easier said than done, but there are so many things that you can do to change and remodel that basement.
One thing we see over and over again, is that when you want to do something for yourself, you absolutely have to do it yourself. But when you have an old space of your home, you have to do it yourself. There is a reason why you have to clean out your attic, why you have to remove your walls, and why you have to clean and remove the debris in your basement. You can’t just take an old space and try to use it as your own.
The old, empty space you were born into, the one you want to call home, is another thing you have to do yourself. The problem is, no matter what you do, you never will get it just right. When you remove a wall, the space underneath it that you just filled with mud or water gets filled in too. When you remove the ceiling, you remove the ceiling above that space too.
And just like any other space, the space above it gets smaller and smaller. It’s because of this that most people, when they first do a basement remodeling project, don’t realize that they are in the process of removing something from a space that has had a life of its own.
