The funeral home in Nelson, Arkansas is a small, not-for-profit funeral home that also happens to be one of the most beautiful funeral homes in the US. It is the only funeral home in the state that has been named a National Historic Landmark.

The cemetery is run by the Nelson family, who are descendants of Isaac Nelson, a slave who was sold into slavery in 1838. Isaac Nelson was born into slavery in 1810 and died on September 7, 1891. Isaac Nelson was the second black person in the history of the United States to receive a federal land grant.
