If you are thinking about remodeling and have a small budget to work with, it is probably smart to go with less. You might consider doing as much of the project yourself as possible. This will also save you money while also helping you create a better experience.
Another advantage with less DIY work is that you can go through a contractor more quickly. A good contractor will be able to do more smaller tasks than you would need to do with a smaller budget and less experienced team. However, contractors can often be very expensive and you don’t want to spend more than a few thousand dollars on a contractor. The most expensive are probably the ones who do a lot of the work themselves and get it done quickly.
The most expensive, but also the most effective, are the ones that do a lot of the work for you. These are the ones you want to hire. To do less work, you can go through a contractor and use the same materials and know exactly what to expect in terms of pricing and quality. This could save you hundreds of dollars and the contractor would only pay you if everything went well.
Even though we’re talking about contractors, we’re really talking about the best remodelers out there. There are some great remodeling contractors on the market who are willing to work for a small fee (often about one-third what you pay for) and do an excellent job.
I’ve always had a bad attitude about remodeling. When I think about the amount of time and money it takes to remodel a house, I always think to myself, “That’s too much work,” and the thought of doing the work myself is a turnoff.
But then I think about the time and effort that goes into remodeling. I have even remodeled a couple of times myself, and I can promise you, I spent a lot of time and money doing those remodels. And every time I remodeled I felt more like I was really doing it myself.
There’s actually some evidence to support this. A study done by the American Institute of Architects found that the average cost to remodel a house is less than 5% of the price of the house itself. But you don’t have to be the most expensive architect in the world to know this. A study led by a researcher from UCLA found that the more money you spend on remodeling, the less money you’re actually saving.
But it gets worse. A study from the National Institute of Building Sciences found that house prices increase 10-28% the first year and then drop by 13 to 48%. So that means the average remodeled house costs 13 times more than it did 10 years ago to maintain it. Just go to Google trends and check out the results.
This is why remodeling can take a lot of energy and money. Even after you put in a lot of time and money to make your house look good, it may not be worth it. A remodel can be a “bargain” if you do it right. There are a lot of options you can use to maximize your remodeling dollars.
For instance, I know there are a lot of people who would recommend replacing your bathroom with a claw-foot tub. But a claw-foot tub costs a lot of money. If you go with a tub that is too small, you’re going to end up spending more money than you save. The best bet is to make your bathroom more of a home. To do this, you need to make sure your counter tops and cabinets are in good shape.
