I have a home with a basement and basement with a basement, so I use the term “dungeon” to describe that space. The basement is where my sewing and quilting materials are stored. This makes the basement my dehumidifier as well. I use it to dry things like my sewing machine, and I also use it to dry my sewing machine when I get up in the morning. I use it for a few other things, like storing my gardening tools.
The whole point of the basement is that I can dry things when I need to. I’m ready to say hi to everyone, but I’ve gotta be up for this weekend. So I’m gonna get my camera, some food, and go outside and explore a little bit.
So last week was the debut of The New Home Depot. Well, the most interesting thing about it was that it was the first place where I could actually buy a home without spending a ton of money. I went in there to see what all the fuss was about, and to see what the store was all about. What I saw was a huge room full of furniture that had a very generic look. It was all in generic colors, and the fixtures weren’t even really fixtures.
I hate generic furniture. The walls of the room were plastered, the chairs were generic, and the tables were generic. I mean, they were generic, but the room was a generic space. And I mean, how many times have you tried to buy a generic home without spending a ton of money? The generic furniture that was in the room was just awful. It made me want to spend hours going through the store.
I couldnt agree more. It is not just generic furniture that is bad. It’s generic home decor that makes the home itself look generic. It’s a home that is not consistent. It’s a home that is not the same in every room, and that is why it makes the space look generic. Generic decor in one room can make you feel like you are in a generic space. It makes you feel like you are in a generic space and that is not good.
