I recently had the opportunity to visit a very special friend. She was a friend of my grandparents and would be greatly missed. The beautiful old building she grew up in was one of the oldest homes in the neighborhood and was home to the first funeral home in the area. I know I’m biased, but I think that seeing this home was a very emotional experience for me. Some of the things we learned today: The Hartquist family was extremely wealthy, so the house is just as well preserved as in the past. They had a great sense of history as evidenced by the fact that they had several period pieces (including a beautiful glass chandelier) in their home. They also had a great love of antiques. Like many Victorian families, they were very proud of their home.
I’m still shocked that this house is on the market. There were no previous photos or stories about it. A lot of the history of the house is unknown, but it’s still pretty cool to see it on the market.
