This season of hell’s kitchen features my favorite kitchen items ever. Not only does it feature items that have been a part of my life for a long time (like the kitchen sink), but it also features dishes that I really love.
Yes, you know how I feel about the word “favorite”, so I’m going to be a little bit more specific. I really love the kitchen sink. I’ve had it for a while and it’s my go-to dish for making a big batch of dinner and washing it down with a glass of wine.
But there are dishes that I have a hard time getting on board with. Dining room table, I hate table. I think it’s because I have a love/hate relationship with them. They are not easy things to clean in my kitchen, not even my own. It takes more time, effort, and clean-up than I want to spend doing, so I usually just don’t bother.
I think in my case, the dishwasher is the thing that I’m most in agreement with. The dishwasher is my go-to, as I don’t have too much of a choice. It’s hard to get the timing right when you have to do the dishes yourself.
I’m glad the dishwasher is a go-to. The washing I have done in it is probably one of the most satisfying and relaxing things I’ve ever done. I know that I’m not alone in this.
The dishes are actually easier to clean and more fun than washing the whole house. I like to think that the dishwasher is one of the few things that I get all the pleasure out of doing, and I’d rather do it myself than have my husband do it for me.
It’s funny how the dishwasher can be a major stressor in the busy household. I’ve had people tell me that if I’m going to have the time and trouble to do a chore, then they’re probably better spending that time washing dishes. It’s true that time spent scrubbing the pots can also be relaxing, but not because it gives you a chance to think about what you’re cooking or whether you’ve left something behind.
