For me, I’d rather have a funeral home with a big, comfortable bed and a good view of the back yard than to sit in a room with no windows and a small bed.
So I’m with you. The funeral home setting is a perfect setting for a funeral. It’s just so sad. You can be near a great view of the back yard and still be alone in your own space. There is nothing better than a funeral home with a great view of the back yard.
If you’re an indie developer or even a small studio, then you’re probably looking at making a game that will be able to be played on two, maybe more than two, different platforms. That means you’ll want to be able to have a game that can run on a PC and a phone and a console. At this point in my career, I think it’s fair to say that I’m most interested in making games that can be played on all three.
It is possible, and even likely, that a game can have it all. But I do not think that any game should be able to be played on multiple platforms, with two of the platforms being mobile platforms. When youre working on a game that will be cross-platformed, you have to make sure its cross-platformed enough that you can work on it on all three platforms. This is a process of design thinking that takes a lot of time and dedication.
I have some issues with cross-platform games that are “all-in”. I don’t think any of the major games have gone this far, and I’m sure there are a few that have been. The point is that if you’re going to make a game that will be cross-platformed, you have to make sure its cross-platformed enough so that you can work on it on all three platforms.
This is the best example of this. I mean, Ive already said this, but I dont think any of the major games have gone this far. This is because, to me, its really hard to design something that will be cross-platform enough. Its so hard to make it work that way because you can make it work where it doesnt really need to, or just where it needs to work best.
Its true that cross-platforming isn’t as simple as just having a game that supports both Windows and Mac. I mean, the Xbox 360 does just fine, but the PS3 and PC have no such support. And even if they had, it doesnt mean any of the games would work because they are designed for only one platform/system. And what if the PC version crashes, or the Mac version fails to load completely? Its possible.
A friend of mine recently had the realization that she was taking work home from a funeral home. She was working on a project that would require her to use the company’s system, and she thought to herself, “Why do I have to use the company’s system? I really don’t need to be there.” Of course, she had no idea what she was talking about, or how the company’s system worked, so she didn’t tell anyone that she was using it.
The good news for those of us who are doing work home from a funeral home is that the company will refund your unused days immediately. The bad news is that the process for getting the money back is still a bit tricky, so be careful about what you do. It might also be time to take a trip to your local branch and complain to the manager in person.
