The John’s funeral home was founded in 1957 and was located in the same location for over 20 years. That’s when the owners decided to expand and move to the more modern location in elkin. In the 1960’s John’s was the first funeral home to offer full services. Today the family owned and operated business is a leader in funeral, cremation, and grave care.
They have a full service memorial that is held on the third Sunday of each month from 10:30am until 2:00pm in the chapel at the corner of North and Main. They also offer online memorials for families with online options available. The site allows a memorial to be created through the use of a special memorial form that you can fill out online. This process can take up to two weeks to complete.
The funeral home has also expanded into a community funeral home which can be attended by the public.
This is a very popular location for memorials and the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased gather to pay their last respects. They use a small chapel that is located on the same street as the funeral home (though it is far less intimate than the large chapel used in the past.
I’m usually not a fan of memorials because they always seem like so many separate events instead of just one big one. But this one has the family and friends, including friends from across the country, gathered together which is just so much more than you can say about most mass public memorials. The family and friends come together to pay their respects for a loved one, a loved one who has touched so many lives over the years.
I feel that this actually is a little bit more intimate because the family and friends are actually there with the body. It’s not a service just for the family and the friends, but for the entire family.
The funeral home service is held at the funeral home, but the family and friends are actually there to pay their respects to the loved one. Because the funeral home has a family connection, the family and friends are actually in the same room as the body.
I see the funeral home as a great place to memorialize a loved one, but I see it as a place of death. That being said, it is the family members that actually attend the service because I don’t think you can have a funeral home service without the family. I personally think that the funeral home should be a place of burial, but if that’s not how you want to go, then you can have a service at the church.
We have not been contacted by any family members of the deceased. The funeral home might have some members who are interested in knowing the family members’ wishes in burial, but we have not been contacted by any family members of the deceased.
