Some time ago, I wrote an article called “Home Innovations: The Three Levels of Self-Awareness” that was picked up by a number of newspapers as well as a large number of websites. I wanted to know that what was being written about home innovation was, in fact, just about home innovation.

Because of this, I wanted to offer some clarity on what I think is the real problem with innovation research labs. In order for this type of research lab to work, it has to be more than an empty lab space. It has to be part of a larger team that is working on something, or it has to be an office. While this is a good thing in many cases, I believe it has the potential for a negative effect on innovation.
