There’s a very popular saying around here that says “if you can’t remember your password, it’s almost certainly not a good password”. That’s a sentiment I’ve taken to heart. I’ve recently taken steps to make a better password that will help me remember everything I need to remember when I’m at home.
The more secure your password, the harder it is for someone to break it. So how do you make a good, secure password that you can remember? The best way is to learn from your mistakes, so make it a habit to look back on your passwords and see if they are vulnerable before using them.
Password security is a topic that has come up a lot in the past few years, and its easy to get carried away with the idea that you should never use a password that you haven’t memorized. That’s not what I’m proposing, but it’s a good point about the importance of remembering your passwords. Just like we should never use a password on our cell phones, or on any other machine we don’t really trust, we shouldn’t use passwords on computers.
This is a general point, but we should start by talking about passwords that are easily memorized. I would argue that most people think that they are a way to make sure your data is secure, but its not. In fact, it makes it easier for hackers to break into your system. Remembering your passwords is a good way to make sure that they are really secure, but if you dont, then you have to use another method of securing data.
This is a good example of why passwords are not necessarily secure. Imagine you are walking down a street and you see a woman coming towards you with a purse in her hand. She is carrying a wallet containing her ID, a set of car keys, and a credit card. She just walked through a security checkpoint where you have been instructed to look in your wallet for your ID, your keys, and your card.
The same situation happens in the video above. At least now you know a way to avoid a security checkpoint.
This is the same situation that many home owners have when they try to access their account from a public computer. In this case, the woman walking towards you with a purse is coming with a credit card. In a public computer, the best you can do is hope that she doesn’t notice that it’s an ID, your keys, and your card. All you can really do then is use a password.
This is also the same situation that many homeowners have when they try to use a public computer (or any computer) to sign in to their accounts. In this case, the woman walking towards you with three bags is coming with a bag full of ID, your keys, and your card. All you can do then is hope that she doesnt notice that it is an ID, your keys, and your card.
The good news is that we can now take out any number of people in a public computer. However, if you’re trying to use this ID to sign in to your account, you will be unable to. This ID has all the same problems as one of the other IDs I talked about in my last article. The ID, being a public computer, will display a big red “x” next to your name.
If the ID is a copy of your personal ID, that means it has a name and address on it already. The computer you’re trying to sign into has to have all the stuff you’re trying to sign into already on it.
