I have a flashlight that I use to go through my house when I’m working on a project. It’s a red one and it’s pretty nice for my work. However, it’s not a flashlight for me when I’m home. I use it primarily for reading, so it’s pretty useless.
I’m not sure why your own home is such a good source of light. I can’t imagine it is because you have so much light in your house that you use it as a light source. That would just be a silly waste of resources, no matter what the reason. The truth is, your house is usually dark at night, and the only time you actually start to see it that way is when people are trying to sleep.
It would be nice if we had a simple flashlight that could be used when we were at work. Most of us are not home all day long, and when we are, its usually in the morning when the sun is at its softest. This is in stark contrast to the rest of the world, which is usually at its brightest at night, making it very hard to see through day and night.

I think it makes sense why we have a flashlight in our basement. I have never experienced a problem with being without a flashlight except for the time I was in my home and thought the flashlight was in use, then I walked into my basement and it wasn’t.
For me, the biggest problem is that flashlights become useless when you have kids. Some people who own a house might have a flashlight, but if they dont, they are not using it. I don’t think it should be hard to find a flashlight for a single person, but I do think it should be more rare for a single person to have a flashlight, and the same goes for multiple people.
