I have been known to refer to my kitchen as my “kitchen”, and I truly believe it fits. In my kitchen, we have a sink, stove, microwave, toaster, crock pot, and a whole lot of counter space. That’s it. (I’m serious! My kitchen looks like the room where a child would come to play.
To quote the saying of a certain great lady, “I am all but a kitchen, and I don’t need anybody to tell me what to do with it.
I agree. My kitchen is where I spend my time. And this is where all the fun happens: entertaining, cleaning, and baking. Its also where I get my laundry done, and where I put my dishes after a meal is over. I’m a very hands-on cook, and I dont do my work half as well when its in my kitchen.
I think that, like all great things in life, cooking is an extension of your personality and a reflection of you as a person. It’s your way of expressing yourself and the things that you are interested in. When you cook, you use the tools and skills that you have in your kitchen. You use food as an outlet for those things that you want to express, and you are willing to use your life’s time to do so.
The kitchen is a place where you can use the tools and skills that you have in your kitchen. But for many people, cooking in the kitchen is a very solitary activity. There are people who work in kitchens for a living, or at least people who have a degree in the culinary arts. They are often the same people who are most likely to do the dishes.
One of the reasons that I decided to move to Portland was to become a chef. Because I love cooking so much, it was time to do it at home. But I didn’t start out that way. In the first few months I worked in the kitchen, I learned how to cook by reading cookbooks and then watching cooking shows. I made a lot of mistakes when I should have known better.
A lot of these chefs I met were extremely talented. They were all very funny and friendly, and they were able to teach me how to cook. But I also met some people who had no idea what they were doing. These people started to teach me how to cook. One of the mistakes I found myself making was to not listen to these chefs. They could not teach me how to cook. I got frustrated and went out on my own.
The key thing is to realize that cooking is a skill. If you don’t have that skill, you’ll never be able to cook. The thing about cooking though is that you don’t have to get it right the first time. The cooking shows that I watched as a kid were a lot of people who were clueless, but once they got it, they were able to cook.
To cook is to know what you have to do to get a recipe right the first time. If you look at the way some of our chefs cook, they use a lot of the same things to cook as I used to. That is just a matter of learning those things.
I think we all need to consider the idea that being good at something is, in a way, the hardest thing to do. Its like learning a language. It takes dedication and time, but if you do it properly, you can do it without any fear.
