I decided to build my own custom home in February of last year. I chose to build a new home for my parents to move into. I chose to build a new house with my own money. I chose to build my own home.
My parents are excited to move into their new home, but they have a little bit of trouble adjusting to it. They are not that well-versed in the actual building process, and they are concerned about where their money is going to come from. While they are excited to move in, they also feel a bit overwhelmed with the thought of building a new house. They like the look of their home, but they are worried about the finances and how the money will come in.
So, if you are thinking of building a home, you may want to consider whether you have the skills to build it yourself, or if you can find a person who has the skills you need. That’s usually the case with people who build new homes. A large majority of the people who build new homes are home builders, so they are well-versed in the building process.
When it comes to custom home building, its more a case of “who wants to build my house for me,” and the question of the “fit.” If you have the skills and knowledge to build your own home, then you’ll be more likely to be successful. However, building a custom home is usually a project that requires a person with skills in many areas, such as carpentry, plumbing, electricians, and interior designers.
A lot of the custom home builders that we’ve met have been very nice people, and will help you with all of your building needs. However, there are some that have been incredibly rude, and they just want you to feel like you have to do what they say. One of the worst ones we’ve met is a guy who told us he’d given him a list of items that he needed and now he wants to charge us to do it.
This is a common problem. We’ve all met people that are just so pushy. They come in with a list of things they want done and then act like they know everything. It’s almost impossible to find someone who will take you seriously.
Now that we’ve established that people like this exist, let me tell you about my own personal nightmare. A few years ago we were getting ready to move into our new home and we called a local builder to get a quote. As we were getting ready to take pictures, the builder put his cell phone on a shelf and began to take pictures of the bathroom.
I thought to myself, “Did we really want a bathroom that looks like this?” The builder didn’t even have a full bathroom. He wanted a bathroom that looked like he had just stepped out of a shower. It seemed like such a frivolous request that I was actually pretty mad at him.
The builder was clearly in over his head, and the photos he took are just a bunch of random shapes he decided to stick on the wall with paint. We have very specific expectations of the bathroom when we build our own home, and this builder was showing us the wrong thing. It was so off-putting that we called the builder in to complain, and he had to apologize for the whole thing.
We have no problem with the builder’s request, just his actions. For the most part, builders should be using products that are made for them. It’s not good enough to paint a wall and expect to have it look the way you want. You need to use tools, techniques, and materials that are appropriate for the task at hand. Not all products are made to be a bathroom wall.
